Become A Certified Traumatologist

Institute participants must have a degree in the healthcare professions (MSW, CSW, RN, PhD, MD).  They must apply for membership, provide an up-to-date CV, and pay a $100 registration fee.  They will attend a six-month training course in trauma.  Classes will be held monthly at the Orangeburg, NY office or Manhattan.  Plans also call for offering classes on-line.  The course text will be the book "Trauma: Treatment and Transformation" by Dr. Muriel P. Warren, BCDETS, FAAETS.  Graduates will receive a certificate as a Traumatologist from the Warren Trauma Institute and will be assigned to one of the Institute's programs in emergency response, education, or trauma therapy.

All candidates are required to take a test based on Dr. Warren's book:  Trauma:  Treatment and Transformationfor certification as a qualified member of the Emergency Response Corps.  Members will receive certificates and other credentials.

Please include a $150 fee which will be returned if you do not pass the exam.  In the packet you will receive the exam.  If you do not have Dr. Warren's book, which the exam is based on, include an extra $20 and the book will be included in the packet you receive.  If you do not pass the exam, the fee will be returned.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Training will be conducted on-line and at the Institute's offices.

The Center's education program is designed to help school teachers recognize and cope effectively with trauma in the classroom.  They can spot severe trauma reactions in their students and refer them for in-school counseling or private trauma therapy. The Center will offer low-cost psychotherapy for trauma victims of all ages.

Our group therapy services are geared to the needs of police, firefighters, emergency personnel and other first responders.  Research indicates they respond better to small groups rather than individual therapy.

Participation as a member of the staff of the Warren Trauma Institute is open to all qualified healthcare professionals with a sincere desire to help others.
